Paying off Debt

Now that you’ve committed to paying off debt or at least thought about getting out of debt, you need to know the next step.

I was just like you not long ago, so I totally understand how you feel of living in debt. Over the years, I managed to pay off credit card debt and gradually developed my own debt management plan. I can’t guarantee your debt will disappear overnight; however, my plan will get you a head start. And if you follow thru these steps, you will be paying off debt sooner. Here are the 12 steps:

1.)Get into the saving habit; even if it’s just $1 a day, you are adding more money into your saving.

2,)Be self-discipline on daily, weekly and monthly spending plan; track every penny you spend; list your fixed expenses, your debts and some possible expenses for the next 3 months.

3.)Create a budget plan; not only to have a spending plan, but also a savings plan as well as an emergency fund.  Although it may seem like an impossible goal, you’re going to strive to achieve it.

4.)Don’t spend on things you “want”, only on things you really “need”.  In fact, you’ve already had everything you need to get by on daily basis.

5.)Make the best use of your money; be proud of living below your means. If you want to get out of debt fast, you need to have this kind of mindset.

6.)Try to find ways to locate some of that hidden cash; you can easily find it in your daily life, such as eating at home instead of dining out, drink water instead of soda.

7.)Stop adding up any more credit card debt; as an alternative, start using cash, just so you are aware of how much cash left in your wallet.  Without cash, you can’t spend any more.  When you can’t spend any more, you won’t accumulate more credit card debt.

8.)To pay off credit card debt, begins with the smallest debt or the debt with the highest interest rate first. You want to pay more than the minimum on that and pay the minimum on your other debt.

9.)Consider using credit cards with balance transfer offer, if the interest rate is a lot lower than your other cards. Make sure you read the fine print before you make the balance transfer.

10.)Consolidate your debt to simplify your payments, if it won’t add extra cost to do so. Sit down and crunch the numbers prior to enrolling in any debt consolidation program.

11.)Find ways to increase your income; put up for sale of your unnecessary items, take a second job, make money online, such as blogging, creating niche websites, selling products on eBay or become an affiliate with Amazon.

12.)Set up your goals; you should have a short-term goal and long-term goal. It’s always a good idea to know where you’re heading for. Where will you be in 6 months, in one year or 3 years? Map out how you are going to achieve your objectives, and be sure to follow your plan consistently.

There you have it – the 12 simple steps to paying off credit card debt or any debt you have and marching forward to debt free living.
